Hello and welcome to LoveLane Radio where we celebrate life with love and joy. I’m your host Linda Davison and I’d like to welcome you to our Autumn “Falling In Love” Show. We’re recording this Episode in October and the weather is getting cool in California. I always think of Fall as a time of renewal and new beginnings. You might be at a new school, a new job or city, or in other ways starting a new chapter in your life. Whatever you’re doing, I hope you enjoy this Autumn show, which will feature songs about “Falling” in love. Let’s get started with possibly the best band of all time, The Beatles….
SONG 1 I’ve Just Seen a Face The Beatles
Our next “Falling” favorites are from a legendary Windy City band, Chicago, the music duo LeBlanc & Carr, Hamilton, Joe Frank & Reynolds, and to kick off the set a group sometimes called the “Detroit Spinners” to distinguish them from a British folk group also called The Spinners…
SONG 2 Could It Be I’m Falling in Love The Spinners
SONG 3 Happy Man Chicago
SONG 4 Falling LeBlanc & Carr
SONG 5 Fallin’ in Love Hamilton, Joe Frank & Reynolds
Our next song, “Can’t Help Falling in Love” was released in October of 1961 and featured in Elvis Presley’s movie, “Blue Hawaii.” Topping the British charts in 1962, here’s The King with this classic….
SONG 6 Can’t Help Falling in Love Elvis Presley
Next up are Fall Favorites from groundbreaking pop group Earth Wind & Fire, Jay & the Techniques, and The Zombies, who were just nominated for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
SONG 7 September Earth, Wind & Fire
SONG 8 Apples, Peaches, Pumpkin Pie Jay & the Techniques
SONG 9 Time of the Season The Zombies
Autumn lovers can be found in the light of a harvest moon. Hope you enjoy these sultry, silvery moon tunes from Van Morrison, Starbuck, the Foo Fighters with Norah Jones, and the title track from Neil Young’s 20th album, “Harvest Moon.”
SONG 10 Moondance Van Morrison
SONG 11 Moonlight Feels Right Starbuck
SONG 12 Virginia Moon Foo Fighters & Norah Jones
SONG 13 Harvest Moon Neil Young
If Fall is a time of renewal for you, there might be someone special who has captured your attention. In Mario Puzo’s classic The Godfather, when Michael meets Apollonia, the Italians said he was hit with “The Thunderbolt” – love at first sight. Here are some stellar songs from Roy Orbison and The Beatles about this phenomenon!
SONG 14 Oh, Pretty Woman Roy Orbison
SONG 15 I Saw Her Standing There The Beatles
SONG 16 Got to Get You Into My Life The Beatles
Our thunderbolt theme continues with classic tunes from The Drifters, Little Anthony & the Imperials, Firefall, and Stevie Wonder….
SONG 17 This Magic Moment The Drifters
SONG 18 Goin’ Out of My Head Little Anthony & the Imperials
SONG 19 You Are the Woman Firefall
SONG 20 My Cherie Amour Stevie Wonder
Can you tell that love at first sight is a popular music theme? As you’ll hear from Elvis, it can even make you itch “like a man in a fuzzy tree!” Here are more of your falling in love favorites from Linda Ronstadt, Orleans, Frankie Valli, Elvis and The Monkees…..
SONG 21 Just One Look Linda Ronstadt
SONG 22 Dance With Me Orleans
SONG 23 Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons
SONG 24 All Shook Up Elvis Presley
SONG 25 I’m a Believer The Monkees
If you’re Falling in Love this Autumn, especially with someone you’ve just met, you may be admiring this special person from afar. If this is your situation, or if you’ve ever felt this way, we’ve got some great vintage tunes for you from Motown legends The Temptations, the influential harmonies of the Everly Brothers, and a group featured in the movie, “Jackie Brown,” Bloodstone.
SONG 26 Just My Imagination The Temptations
SONG 27 All I Have To Do Is Dream Everly Brothers
SONG 28 Natural High Bloodstone
Next up are some songs about a twist on love at first sight – having a feeling of déjà vu as well. “Where or When” is a show tune written by Rodgers & Hart and performed by Canadian Diana Krall, “Sweet Reunion” was written by Kenny Loggins about the woman who would become his second wife, and “Déjà Vu” was written by Isaac Hayes, produced by Barry Manilow, and sung by Dionne Warwick. I hope you enjoy hearing these songs again….or maybe for the first time?
SONG 29 Where or When Diana Krall
SONG 30 Sweet Reunion Kenny Loggins
SONG 31 Déjà Vu Dionne Warwick
We’re nearing the end of our “Falling in Love” Show, and I’d like to thank you again for joining us and for supporting LoveLane Radio. We appreciate hearing from our listeners and welcome your reviews on iTunes, Facebook and Twitter.
Before we end the show, I’d like to share a few of my favorite love songs and hope they are some of yours as well. The Everly Brothers influenced The Beatles, The Beach Boys and Simon & Garfunkel, and we’ll hear “Let It Be Me.” Child prodigy Stevie Wonder’s “Golden Lady” is a lush romantic song which feels perfect for Autumn. Sir Ivan Morrison of Northern Ireland wrote “Someone Like You” which has been heard in countless romantic movies but I never grow tired of it, and “Beautiful” by Canadian folk singer and songwriter Gordon Lightfoot is as “beautiful” as its name. Enjoy….
SONG 32 Let It Be Me Everly Brothers
SONG 33 Golden Lady Stevie Wonder
SONG 34 Someone Like You Van Morrison
SONG 35 Beautiful Gordon Lightfoot
Thank you for living Life in the LoveLane! This is your host Linda Davison signing off for now, and wishing you and yours a wonderful Autumn. We’ll close our show with two more tunes about “Falling in Love” – a chart-topping single for Canadian songbird Anne Murray, and a melody written and recorded by Pastor Eddie Cornelius. To play us out, we’ll start with the Cornelius Brothers & Sister Rose…
